Itinerary of the 1-day Rainbow Mountain tour on a private ATV

This is the itinerary

The tour to the Rainbow Mountain on an ATV begins with the pick-up of the tourist from the door of their hotel at approximately 5 in the morning. The pick-up time can be a few minutes earlier or later at the request of the visitor.
The private group will board a tourist van or minivan (depending on the number of tourists in the group). Then, the trip will take approximately 2 hours to the town of Cusipata in southern Cusco.
In Cusipata we will stop to enter the tourist restaurant La Montana where we will have between 40 minutes to 1 hour to enjoy a buffet breakfast. The breakfast is made using local Andean ingredients. The breakfast offers a variety of breads, butters, jams, yogurt, hot drinks, coffee, cereals, fruits, eggs and more.
After breakfast we can use the toilets and resume the journey, this time along dirt roads uphill until we reach the Japura camp. Along the way we will appreciate beautiful Andean landscapes with camelids such as llamas and alpacas. Visitors can ask the tour guide for a stop to take some beautiful photos along the way.
At the Japura camp, the group will get off the transport for the respective training in the handling of the ATVs. The tour guide will provide a single or double ATV to each tourist. The training is very simple, you only have to know the mechanism of turning on, turning off and the speeds to use in each section. All tourists can learn and complete the route without complications.
The tour already includes the ATVs and the necessary equipment for a completely safe adventure: helmets, gloves, knee pads, etc. In Japura we will have a practice session before starting the real route along the dirt roads to Vinicunca.
The group will continue along with the company of a professional guide on another ATV. The route is for almost 2 hours through beautiful Andean landscapes. At some key points, the guide will stop to get beautiful photos of Andean camelids and special landscapes of the mountain range and the Ausangate snow-capped mountain in the distance.
After a great adventure of almost 2 hours on a quad bike, the private group will arrive at the Qosqopata camp, at an altitude of approximately 4,800 meters above sea level. At this point we will get ready to begin the hike to the top of Vinicunca. Optionally, for a cost of 60 soles (not included in the tour), the visitor can make this section on one of the horses or linear motorcycles offered by the locals.
The final hike to Vinicunca is only 2 kilometers long. On average, it takes about 1 hour to complete, a little more or less. The trails are easy to walk except for the geography of more than 5 thousand meters above sea level. Once at the top of Vinicunca, the tourist will appreciate one of the most special landscapes in Cusco and Peru.
The Mountain of 7 Colors, as its name indicates, has a soil full of minerals that show different shades. There are several viewing points, the highest one is a challenge because you have to climb for 10 or 15 minutes more. From all the viewing points you can get unforgettable photos.
The tour guide will accompany the visitor along the Vinicunca trails and on the top of the mountain. He will provide the necessary information to understand the formation and importance of the mountain. When the guide deems it convenient (1 hour or more after reaching the top of the mountain) the return trip to the Qosqopata camp will begin on foot.
At the Qosqopata camp, you will board the ATVs again with safety equipment and the company of a tour guide. The return trip takes an average of 1 hour and 30 minutes. The adventure is along the same route as the outward journey, surrounded by beautiful landscapes of the Andes Mountains. The destination will be at the Japura camp.
In Japura we will board our tourist transport again for the return trip (1 hour trip) to the town of Cusipata where we will visit the tourist restaurant La Montana, just at lunchtime.
Lunch is a delicious service, with local Andean ingredients. The variety of meals includes: hot soups, rice, noodles, stews, chicken, fish, beef, alpaca, tequeños, Peruvian ceviche, eggs, fruits, hot drinks and more. After having between 40 minutes and 1 hour; we will board the tourist transport again for the trip back to the city of Cusco.
The 1-day private ATV tour to the Rainbow Mountain concludes with the final transfer of the visitor to the door of his or her hotel in the city of Cusco. The tour concludes at approximately 5 p.m.
